PRESENTING ‘CUP OF SALVATION’, A RARE WINDOW INTO THE WORLD’S OLDEST WINEMAKING REGIONS: ARMENIA AND IRAN
The Armenian Film Festival Australia (AFFA) proudly announces its 9th edition, once again bringing the best of Armenian culture to Australian audiences. This year, the history and impact of Armenian wines is a central theme, highlighted with CUP OF SALVATION, a gripping documentary covering over 6000 years of winemaking history across both Armenia and Iran.
From the acclaimed SOMM documentary film series, CUP OF SALVATION interweaves wine’s ancient evolution with the incredible, current-day true story of a father and daughter, VAHE and AIMEE KEUSHGERIAN as they set out to revive the ancient grapes of their cultural homeland, ultimately producing “the most dangerous wine in the world”.
The documentary offers a rare glimpse into the birthplace of wine in the rugged war-torn Caucasus Mountains, the inside-look at Vatican archives and the forbidden vineyards hidden deep within the Iranian countryside.
To complement the screening in Sydney, filmmaker Vahe Keushguerian will be in Sydney hosting an intimate wine-tasting event for a strictly limited audience. It will be the first and may be the only chance to sample these extraordinary wines on Australian soil. This is an unmissable, once-in-a-lifetime experience.

CUP OF SALVATION will be screening in Sydney and Melbourne;
• SYDNEY: Sunday 10 August, 2:00pm, Event Cinemas Top Ryde. Includes Q&A. With an exclusive optional add on: Meet the Winemaker & Tasting Experience.
• MELBOURNE: Saturday 30 August, 6:30pm, Lido Cinemas Hawthorn (film only)
