Mariam lives in a remote Armenian village where there are no men. On her birthday, her hopes of having a reunited family are shattered, but she must put aside her own crushed dreams and build up her friend Anush’s hopes of an idyllic life as she embarks into motherhood.

The old man is the only one who did not leave the village. Each day he repairs the door of an abandoned house and tries to recreate a time that once was. One night suddenly the villagers’ dialogue and children’s voices are heard. The dog looks at the man in surprise. He is wearing a white suit, and smugly “turned on the voice of the village”.

The brutal Nagorno-Karabakh War of 2020 ended in a Russian-mediated ceasefire forcing Armenia to cede territory to Azerbaijan. As a result, thousands of Armenians living in these regions were forced to leave their homes. Days before the handover deadline, a group of volunteers risked their lives to enter the Lachin region to search for and save beautiful sacred ancient Armenian cross stones known as “khachkars”, from destruction.

The Mud

Rafael chases a lone goose into his home, leaving behind dirty footprints and feathers on the floor. When his wife and neighbours return, they mistake the mess for the work of an angel and soon the entire village is convinced of the miraculous healing powers of the dirt. As the demand for the “healing” dirt grows, Rafael struggles with the guilt of perpetuating the lie and the consequences of the villagers’ blind faith.
